Deception Bay  Qld

Welcome. I practice in Deception Bay and my focus is on Remedial Massage and Lymph Drainage incorporating other gentle therapies such as aromatherapy and pregnancy massage.

Cultivating an attitude of prevention with my clients and encouraging regular treatments in a cumulative effort towards positive wellbeing is my preferred approach.  Engaging in preventative therapy facilitates general contentment, quicker recovery from trauma and increased immunity to infection.  This I find is the most effective way to incorporate therapy into your lifestyle.

My therapeutic approach is painless and patient, allowing time for the person to respond intuitively to treatment.

Therapeutic Massage Treatments

Swedish/Remedial massage
is a firm massage style useful in treating musculoskeletal problems. This therapy can be combined with Relaxation Massage, having a calming effect on the nervous system. This combination of styles is excellent for relief from muscular tension and deep relaxation to aid insomnia, stress and loss of vitality.

Facial massage
Enter into a state of relaxation with Oriental acupressure to specific points on the head, neck and face followed by lymph drainage, a gentle rhythmic massage used to detoxify, reduce congestion and cleanse the body from within. The focus of this treatment is on massage technique and not the use of cosmetic products. This is a great introduction to lymph drainage therapy.

Pregnancy massage
is offered after the first trimester. Treatment is valuable for both mother and baby: for relaxation, enjoyment and to address any physical discomfort that can occur from the changes taking place during pregnancy. Remedial, Swedish and Lymph Drainage techniques are all safe and beneficial throughout pregnancy and postnatal.

Lymph drainage therapy
is a gentle treatment that relaxes the nervous system and aids the body's immune system. The major function of lymph drainage therapy is to assist the lymph fluid to flow freely through the body draining stagnant fluid where toxins can accumulate inhibiting optimal health on a cellular level. Lymph drainage therapy acts as a deep cleansing treatment: detoxifying tissues, regenerating cells and improving circulation. See lymph drainage for more information. A shorter session focusing on the face and head is a great introduction to this specialised therapy.

Aromatherapy
As a part of nature, aromatic essential oils are tools of healing and combined with the soothing power of massage have enormous therapeutic benefits to the body. By their fragrance and absorption through the skin, essential oils can also have subtle effects on the mind and emotions, helping to give feelings of relaxation, balance and harmony, a truly holistic therapy.
Aromatherapy is an excellent preventative treatment as it helps to relieve stress and related conditions. It stimulates our natural immune body mechanisms and particular oils have an affinity with certain systems of the body helping to alleviate respiratory, digestive, circulatory or hormonal problems. With aromatherapy massage the emphasis is on smooth, flowing movements designed to assist lymphatic drainage. It increases the nourishment and oxygen to the tissues easing muscular aches and pains and helping with fatigue.

Indian Head Massage
This massage therapy has been practised in the Indian sub-continent for centuries. It involves massage of the scalp, face, neck, upper back, arms and shoulders, with the recipient usually in a seated position.

Treatment relaxes the scalp and face, relieving eyestrain and headaches. It stimulates and improves scalp circulation, which helps strengthen the hair and improve its condition and growth. The soft tissues of the neck and shoulders are gently mobilised and stretched, helping to ease tension and restore joint movements.

Additional benefits of the treatment can help in reducing stress in our lives with its soothing effect on nerve endings. Massage increases lymphatic drainage that helps to remove toxins and slightly tones facial muscles.

This treatment lasts an hour and favourite essential oils can be used to further enhance this nurturing therapy.

Indian head massage smooths, comforts and rebalances the energy flow to produce a feeling of well-being and tranquility.

Beneficial Tips

Regular treatment
If you undergo regular treatment the effect is cumulative and you are engaging in preventative medicine thus facilitating general wellbeing, quicker recovery from trauma and increased immunity to infection. This is the most effective way to incorporate massage into your life.

Time for yourself
Following a massage it is a good idea to take time out and do something you enjoy, allowing yourself a break. Schedule your appointment for a time that allows an extended break from any possible stressful situations.

Water
It is important to drink water after a treatment. This will help to eliminate and flush out any toxins that have been released by the massage treatment. Drinking plenty of water will prevent the toxins from being reabsorbed into the system.

Epsom Salts
Epsom Salt, or magnesium sulphate (MgSO4·7H2O), is named for the waters of Epsom, England, known to be rich in this mineral. Epsom salt is well known as a soaking agent - try adding up to two cups of the mineral to a bath. Adding these great salts to a bath is an excellent way of combating stress and alleviating muscular aches and pains. The high magnesium content in Epsom salt draw toxins from the body and helps sedate the nervous system. The salt in Epsom creates a high mineral content that duplicates the benefits of a hot spring. If you don’t have a bathtub try a footbath: use up to one cup in a small tub for a soak that will ease aching feet.
